Email Configuration

Connect Gmail, Outlook, custom SMTP, or Amazon SES so OrderInChat can send order, notification, and marketing emails from your address.

Overview

Store settings → Email (/en/store/email-config) stores one SMTP configuration per store. This page is outgoing transport only (From address / SMTP). OrderInChat uses these settings to send mail — you will not see or manage incoming mail here. Edit order email content and marketing sequences on Email Templates.

Setup

  1. Open Store settings → Email
  2. Choose a provider preset:
    • Gmail (simple transactional)
    • Amazon SES (recommended for bulk / marketing drips)
    • Custom SMTP (Spacemail, Hostinger, GoDaddy, and others)
    • Outlook (SMTP is often blocked — prefer Gmail, SES, or custom)
  3. Fill:
    • From email / From name
    • Provider credentials (App password, SES SMTP user/password, or SMTP password)
    • Host / port / SSL (Gmail port follows the SSL toggle; SES host is set from the AWS region)
  4. Turn on Activate Configuration
  5. Save, then Send test email

Gmail

  1. Enable Google 2-Step Verification
  2. Create an App Password
  3. Use that password here (not your normal Google password)

Custom SMTP

If your mailbox is on Spacemail, choose Custom SMTP and use:

SettingValue
SMTP hostmail.spacemail.com
Port (SSL/TLS)465 (recommended; turn on SSL/TLS)
Port (STARTTLS)587 (SSL/TLS off / STARTTLS)
UsernameFull Spacemail address
PasswordMailbox password

The page includes a Spacemail preset that fills host mail.spacemail.com and port 465. Confirm the same values in Spacemail Manager → mailbox → IMAP/SMTP/POP3 if needed.

Other common providers (also available as presets on the page):

ProviderSMTP hostPort
Hostingersmtp.hostinger.com465
GoDaddysmtpout.secureserver.net465
Yahoosmtp.mail.yahoo.com465
iCloudsmtp.mail.me.com587
Zohosmtp.zoho.com465

Amazon SES (bulk / high volume)

Use SES when you send marketing sequences (abandoned cart, welcome drips) or large volumes.

  1. Open the Amazon SES console and pick a region
  2. Verify your domain (recommended) or From email under Identities
  3. If the account is in the SES sandbox, request production access (sandbox can only mail verified recipients)
  4. Create SMTP credentials in IAM — copy the SMTP username and password (not your AWS console login)
  5. On this page choose Amazon SES, select the same region, paste SMTP username + password, and a verified From address
  6. Save, activate, and send a test

The expandable How to set up Amazon SES SMTP help on the page mirrors these steps.

Images in emails (e.g. store logo) are embedded in the message so email apps display them without loading them from the web.

What emails are sent (when active)

TriggerRecipients
New orderCustomer “Order Received” + store “New Order”
Order status updateCustomer status email (often alongside WhatsApp)
Team inviteInvitee
Task notificationsAssignees

Marketing dripsCustomers (when enabled on Email Templates)

Without an active config, some emails may be sent from a default OrderInChat sender (not your brand address).

Important distinctions

  • This page is outgoing only — it does not show an inbox or receive customer replies.
  • Store Setup → Contact → store email is a display / contact field — not SMTP credentials.
  • Marketing drip schedules live on Email Templates; this page only provides the sending connection.
  • There is no separate Reply-To field on this page.

FAQ

Can I send customer mail from my own address?
Yes — configure and activate SMTP/SES on this page, then send a test. Transactional and (when enabled) marketing emails use that From address when the config is active.

Will I see incoming mail here?
No. These are outgoing server settings only. Read replies in your normal mailbox (Gmail, Spacemail webmail, etc.).

Why Amazon SES for marketing?
Gmail/Outlook personal accounts are not built for bulk. SES is designed for volume, reputation, and deliverability.
